Shedding My Skin

SHEDDING MY SKIN

A reflection on our world. A collection built around up-cycled materials. From left-over wools from local farmers, after meticulously spinning, knitting and weaving the yarns by hand, unique knitwear pieces were created. Added onto this is a soft up-cycled PVC, integrated sleekly into the woven textiles. Materials that normally would be discarded shape the backbone of the garments. The inspiration came from lizards shedding their skin, which subtly serves as a metaphor, for the designers own thicker skin after graduating. The looks represent the three stages of this shedding process, ranging from a white rigid skin, to cut-outs with rolled out edges and finally allowing purple minty colors to shine through in all its animalistic splendour.
